Introducing Dion Neill

Our expertise is founded on the experience and knowledge of Dion Neill, a former member of the New Zealand emergency services and defence forces. Dion provides our clients with the benefit of over 35+ years of security risk management, private investigation and paralegal experience.

Dion was certified as a fraud examiner and gained a Certificate in Investigation Skills from the private training establishment at the Royal New Zealand Police College. Dion has achieved a Diploma of Security and Risk Management (Australia), along with a number of other internationally recognised credentials.

Dion has spent a number of years conducting covert surveillance, managing undercover operations and handling hundreds of investigations. He was one of the first licensed private investigators in New Zealand to carry out assignments for ACC and other government agencies.

In the 1980’s, Dion provided evidence in the High Court of New Zealand following a lengthy investigation focusing on significant theft within a large multi-national business. Dion’s evidence was key to the successful conviction of over 20 defendants in the High Court of New Zealand.

Dion featured on the television series, ‘Private Investigators’. He was also interviewed on TVNZ Breakfast regarding protecting high profile people. Dion has published articles on theft, fraud, personal safety and loss prevention.

One of New Zealand’s most experienced operatives

In the 1980s, Dion served his apprenticeship with a team of qualified former detectives, police officers, military personnel and government intelligence officers. He was trained in every aspect of conducting investigations, surveillance and gathering intelligence. Since then he has clocked up years of experience with surveillance, managing undercover operations and investigating dishonesty offences. Dion is a strong advocate for raising the level of professionalism and service delivery within the security industry.

Here are selected highlights from Dion’s career:
  • As a key witness in a high-profile theft case, Dion withstood lengthy cross-examination in the High Court by the late Mike Bungay QC. Dion’s evidence resulted in over 20 convictions.
  • When New Zealand government insurer, ACC needed to take fraud investigation to a higher level, Dion was one of the first licensed private investigators in New Zealand they selected.
  • After providing personal protection services for a prominent business owner who received threats of violence, Dion went on to launch his high-level security company Protective Services.
  • Dion personally managed the security for a sports team representing New Zealand in South Africa.
  • Dion and his associates have worked as private security contractors in the world’s most volatile regions.
Security management on a global scale

Dion has worked as a senior manager with Group 4 Security (known globally as G4S). In this role he was responsible for leading a national security team and management of key security contracts. As one of the first NZQA tutors to facilitate the National Certificate in Security, Dion is a certified instructor for mandatory training required to obtain a security licence or certificate of approval.

A speciality of Dion’s is providing security services to the film industry. He regularly provides guarding, security consulting and risk management services to film production companies working in New Zealand and other parts of the world. This work includes protecting assets, film talent and intellectual property.
